Stephenson, Jr. – Historian, Bock Family Association Lincoln Evening Courier, Lincoln, Illinois January 6, 1937 George Becker, 69, was found dead in his home in San Jose at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by his step-daughter, Miss Bernice Beard who returned at that hour after spending the day with neighbors. The body was found on the floor of the basement near the furnace and a verdict of death by heart attack was found at an inquest conducted by Coroner E. H. Neiderer of Mason county. Mr. Becker, a retired farmer, was twice married. He first married Mary Rapp and to this union was born seven children, her death occurred in 1926. He married Mrs. Hattie Beard the following year and she died suddenly Feb. 16, 1931. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Emily, Chicago; four sons, Everett, San Jose; George, New Holland; and Russell and Palmer, Natrona; two brothers, two sisters, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the resident in San Jose at 1 p.m. Thursday and at the San Jose M.E. church at 1:30 o’clock. Rev. Paul Nestler will officiate and burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.
