Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association Lincoln Shopper, Lincoln, Illinois, May 2, 1984 Henry F. A. Bock The funeral of Henry F. A. Bock, 79, of R.R. 1, Lincoln, who died Friday (April 13, 1984), was Tuesday, April 17, at St. John's United Church of Christ, the Rev. Gary Hazlett officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln was in charge of arrangements. He was born Jan. 26, 1905, at Beason (Logan Co., IL), a son of Henry and Minnie Awe Bock. He married Elda Meinershagen July 25, 1933, in Higginsville, Mo. She died Feb. 28, 1971. Surviving are a son, John, Elmore, Ohio; a daughter, Elsie Piotraschke, Northglenn, Colo.; four brothers, Adam, William, Carl, all of Lincoln; and Walter, Beason; a sister, Hilda Bock, Beason; and four grandchildren. Mr. Bock was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where he served for 28 years as Sunday school superintendent. He had taught Sunday school for about 40 years. He was on church council for 16 years, and was at one time its vice chairman. He was a founding member of Central Illinois Association of Churches of Christ, and had served as secretary, treasurer and director of the Logan County CROP hunger relief campaign; state CROP chairman of Illinois Council of Churches; a board member for 11 years on the school board of Sigg School, west of Lincoln. He also was a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau. Mr. Bock was a distinguished volunteer on the extended-care floor at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, where he had worked for many years. He also was a former member of the Logan County zoning board.
