Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association Lillian Bock Funeral services for Lillian I. Bock, a well-known Lincoln educator and musician, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Holland and Barry Funeral Home and an hour before the funeral Tuesday at the church. The Lincoln Courier's Citizen of the Year in 1978 and a teacher for nearly 60 years, Mrs. Bock, 78, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday Feb. 9, 1990, at St. John's North Hospital, Springfield. Mrs. Bock taught in Waynesville, Logan County and Lincoln elementary schools from 1931 to 1976 and continued serving as a substitute teacher until 1989. She was an active violinist and pianist. She was a member of Lincoln Community Orchestra, the String-Alongs, Lincoln Community Theatre, Lincoln Musical Arts, and Lincolnland Community Concert Association. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Chancel and Bell choirs, the Charity guild, and Pairs and Spares. She was a member of the Citizens' Advisory board of Broadwell District 68 Grade School, League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Logan County Farm Bureau and it's women's committee, Chester Woman's Club, and American Mother's Association. Mrs. Bock was a member and director of the women's auxiliary of the Illinois Angus Association, and a member and past president of Alpha Delta ____________ She served for 25 years as a 4-H leader, was Illinois Merit Mother of the Year in 1976, and received the Colonel Sanders Senior Citizen of the Year Award in 1985. She was a graduate of Illinois State Normal University. She was born June 18 _____ Clinton, a daughter of _______ Clara Rhode Furman. She married Carl Bock on June 18 _____ Lincoln. He survives.
