Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association Lawrence L. Bock Springfield - Lawrence L. Bock, 83, of Springfield, died Friday, July 30, 2004, I Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1921, in Middletown, the son of Lewis Otto and Grace Fern Weaver Bock. He married Merry Bernice Hurt in 1950 in Springfield. Mr. Bock worked as a machine operator at Fiatallie before retiring. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, receiving the EAME Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post 32, United Auto Workers Local 1235, the 4 B's Hunting Club, and Grace Bible Church, near Rochester. He was the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative's 2003 Grandfather of the Year runner-up. Survivors: wife, Merry; daughter, Melandie Bock of Chatham; a granddaughter; two brothers. William Merle (wife, Betty Ann) Bock of Pekin and George Lewis (wife, Loretta) Bock of Springfield; five nieces; a nephew; and several great- nieces and great-nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Grace Bible Chapel, near Rochester, the Rev. Phillip Dossett, the Rev. Floyd Pierce and the Rev. Thomas Shirley officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
