Bock, 80, of Elkhart died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at St. John's Hospice, Springfield. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elkhart United Methodist Church, Elkhart. The Rev Beth Tickner and the Rev. Virgil Sprunger will officiate. Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery, with Elkhart American Legion providing military honors. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Mott & Henning Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Elkhart United Methodist Church. Mr. Bock was born July 5, 1921, in Elkhart, a son of Everett M. and Louise Gluick Bock. He married Billie Haynes on Dec. 15, 1943, at Somerset, Ky. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Becky (Bill) Boline, Towanda; tow sons, Roger (Lynn) Bock, Williamsville, and Gerald (Jeanne) Bock, Colchester, Vt.; one sister, Julia Durst, Indian Lake Estates, Fla.; three grandsons; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Mr. Bock was a fourth generation Logan County farmer and a member of the Elkhart United Methodist Church and Elkhart American legion. He served as a liaison pilot during World War II for the Field Artillery. He was a former Elkhart High School Board Member.
