Dorothy C. Follis, of Bolingbrook, Ill., departed this life June 9,
2004 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 25, 
1935, in Grovespring, Mo. to Glen and Cledith Massey Smittle. Dorothy spent 
her early life on a farm in Grovespring until 1946 when her family moved to 
Springfield, Mo. On May 4, 1953, she married Robert N. Follis. She is a past 
member of the Harbor Lights Eastern Star Lodge, International Toastmistress 
Club and the Assembly of God church. She was passionate in her devotion to her 
family and was an avid supporter of their activities in the arts and sports. 
Dorothy will be loved and remembered by her husband, Robert; daughters, 
Patricia (Wayne) Tylka and Elizabeth (John) Downen; six grandchildren, Jill, 
Joanna and Jessica Tylka, and Bradley, Robert and Rachael Downen; and many 
other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on 
Sunday, June 13, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, Ill. Funeral 
services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14, at the funeral home. Burial 
will be at Elkhart, Ill. Memorials in Dorothy's name may be directed to St. 
Thomas Hospice, 8230 S. Madison, Burr Ridge, Ill., or to the American Cancer 
Society.
