Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association James L. Harp, 87, of Lincoln died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Mr. Harp farmed in Logan and Mason counties before he retired. He was a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau. He was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Middletown (Logan County, Illinois), a son of John and Nellie Raber Harp. He married Wilma Stone in 1935. She died in 1981. He married Leta Rice in 1984. She died in 1986. Survivors include tow sons, Richard Harp of Mason City and Marvin Harp of Mount Pulaski; tow daughters, Yvonne Cheek of Lincoln and Loretta Jones of Peoria; five stepsons, Jin Rice of St. Joseph, Merle Rice, Forrect Rice and Mike Rice, all of Lincoln, and Jerry Rice of San Peblos, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Kelley Halcomb and Shelley Hurt, both of Lincoln, Ethel Frakes of Houston, Texas, and Wanda Kramer of Bellevile; two brothers, John Harp and William Harp, both of Easton; three sisters, Catherine Evans of Marianna, Ark., Mary Bandy of Sullivan and Nellie Davis of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 35 stepgrandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. A son, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren preceded him in death. Mr. harp's funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert- Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, with Bill Boice officiating. Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
