Martin Transcription by William L. Stephenson, Jr., - Historian, Bock Family Association Mabel L. Martin died at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the Lincoln Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln. She was born on March 27, 1917, in Carleton, Nebraska, the daughter of Louis and Ida Martin. Mabel was a graduate of Lincoln Business College. Her excellent business skills were the result of the training she received at the college. She was a skilled and well respected 43 year employee of the Internal Revenue Service both in Springfield and Decatur. She was a lifelong member of the Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln. Mabel's hobby was painting. Over the years she was awarded ribbons and other honors for her painting. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, baking and trying new recipes. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Mabel is survived by her sister, Blanche of Rockford, Ill., her niece, Mary Karen Jablonski (Richard) of Joliet, Ill., her sister-in-law, Bettie Martin of Joliet, great niece Stephanie Rosado (Robert), great nephew Robert Cox, great- great nieces Abigail and Lillian Rosado and great-great nephew Casey Cox, all of Joliet. Special friends: Marge Buckles of Decatur, Helen Schneider of Belleville and Donna Wilson of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. The family wishes to thank the Lincoln Christian Nursing Home for the care given to Mabel while she was there. Visitation services will be held at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Christian Church, Lincoln Christian Nursing Home of the charity of donor's choice.
