Obituary of Milton Bates, Clinton & Logan County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Lorraine Miller Printed in Clinton Journal March, 1960 MILTON BATES, CLINTON, DIES Milton Bates, 90, of Clinton, died in a hospital at Jacksonville, Monday at 5:50 p.m. His funeral will be at the Herrington Funeral at 1 p.m. Friday in charge is Rev. Walter M. Theobald, pastor of the FIrst Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Bates was born September 17, 1869 at Clinton, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frances M. Bates. He had been married to Maude Council of Lincoln and they had a daughter Frances Willard. His other survivor is a sister, Mrs. Jessie Warnock of Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Bates, in his early life, was a painter and paper hanger in Clinton.
