Stephenson, Jr. – Historian, Bock Family Association Lincoln Daily Courier, August 20, 1907 Ernest Raber Ernest Raber, a wealthy and prominent citizen of Sheridan township died at his home 2 ˝ miles northeast of New Holland, at 4:20 p.m. Monday. He was born in Germany and was 73 years, 1 month and 12 days of age. Mr. Raber had lived in the state of Illinois for 56 years and was one of the old settlers. He is survived by a wife and six children. The children are: Mrs. Carrie Smith, Hedrick, IA; Mrs. Minnie Sparks, George and Mary Raber, the latter two at home; Mrs. Ida Martin, Beason and Mrs. Nellie Harp, Middletown. The funeral will consist of brief services at the home at 1 o’clock p.m. Wednesday with the regular service at the M. E. church of New Holland, with burial in Richmond Grove.
