Obituary of Walter FRANKLIN, Pike & Logan County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Giles While doing volunteer data entry at our local library in Ontario, California, I came across this obituary which might be of some interest to someone on this list. This does not relate to any surname that I am researching personally. Nancy Walter Franklin, retired hardware dealer and an Ontario resident for 21 years, died last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Layne Slagle, 734 East H street, following a six-months' illness with a heart affection, at the age of 73 years. A native of Strout, Ill., Mr. Franklin came to Ontario from Nebo, Ill., where he was affiliated with the Masonic lodge. Surviving besides Mrs. Slagle are three other daughters, Mrs. Sam Menard and Mrs. Hugh Dorsett, Ontario, and Mrs. Oscar Smith, Bakersfield; three sons, Herbert and Willard of Ontario, and Kenneth of Twentynine Palms, and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services for the retired merchant will be conducted Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the J. B. Draper company chapel, 127 West C street. Interment will be in Bellevue cemetery.
