The Inter-Ocean [Chicago IL] April 3, 1877
Maroa, Ill., April 2.—Last Saturday afternoon William Boone, who lived eight 
miles northeast of this place, borrowed a shot-gun, proceeded to an adjoining 
field, took off a boot and sock, placed the muzzle of the gun at his forehead, 
and pulled the trigger with his toe. His skull was blown away. Cause, 
unrequited love.
