A. BOWMAN RITES TO BE SATURDAY Funeral services for Clarence A. Bowman, owner of the Bowman Wlding Co., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Dawson * Wikoff Funeral Home, with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home after 4:30 p.m. Friday. Stephen Decatur Lodge 979, AF&AM, will conduct masonic rites at service time Saturday. Mr. Bowman, 66, died in Decatur and Macon County Hospital at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Bowman, of 3268 East Cedar St., had owned and operated the welding firm since 1937, fegore which he worked as a welder in Kansas City, Mo., for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was active in aviation and boating and in 1948 attempted unsuccessfully to get permission to use a basin of Lake Decatur as a seaplane base. He served on the aviation committee of the Association of Commerce in 1954. Mr. Bowman was born Aug 23, 1901, in Decatur, the sone of John and Jennie Righter Bowman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Decatur, Council 16 RSM, Stephen Decatur Lodge 979 AF&AM, Beaumanoir Commandery 9 Knights Templar, Ansar Shrine, Zohad Grotto, Cenois Amateur Radio Association, the AOPA pilots' associaton, American Welding Society, American Society of Tool Engineers and the Decatur Club. Survivors include a son, Dale, of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. John (La Greta) Ross of Independence, Mo.; a brother, Lorin, of Long Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
