In Charge of Funeral Services Sunday Funeral services for Robert Knowles, 94, Civil war veteran who died in the home of his son, Thomas E. Knowles, 988 West View street, at 11 a.m. Thursday after a two weeks illness will be held in the monson chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. C. W. Flewelling will give the funeral sermon and veterans of the Dunham post G.A.R. will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Salem cemetery. Friends may call at Monson's. He was born near Springfield, Oct 12, 1942. In 1861 he enlisted in Company C, Seventh Kansas volunteer cavalry and was in the Union army until the close of the Civil war in 1865. Soon after the war he went to Tazewell county where he married Miss Katherine Kemper. She died May 17, 1924. He came to Macon county in 1879 and operated a farm near Mt. Zion until a number of years ago. He was a member of the Dunham post of the G.A.R. He leaves seven children: Mrs. Rachel Bowman, Robert A. , Thomas E., and Charles Knowles, all of Decatur. Will H Knowles of Elwin, George Knowles of Macon, and Mrs. Mary Harris, Cedar Rapids, Ia. There are five grandhcildren and 13 great grandchildren.
