McCarty was born Feb 17, 1853, in the state of Ohio, and died Nov. 25, 1904, in his home near Argenta, Ills. In 1887 he was married to Jennie Holt of Monticello, Ills., by the Rev. T. J. Coulias, then pastor of the First Methodist church of Decatur. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. J. Jockisch, assisted by Rev. Mr. Beggs, in the Cerro Gordo M. E. church, Sunday, Nov. 27, 1904. The funeral was in charge of A. F. and A. Masons. The interment was in the Cerro Gordo cemetery. Mr. McCarty was a member of the M. E. Church the great part of his life. He was converted at Ridge chapel. The deceased is survived by his wife, who with tender devotion ministered unto him during his prolonged sickness; by three children-Carl, Misses Hazel and Ruth, who with three sisters and three brothers of the deceased mourn the departure of an affectionate, earnest and devoted companion, father and friend.
