Retirement ceremony held for Milford Bowker

An Air Force retirement ceremony was held Sept. 25 at Kelly A.F.B., Texas for 
Senior Master Sergeant Milford T. bowker, Jr. He is the son of the late 
Milford T. Bowker, Sr. and Almeda Bowker of Memphis, Tenn., who were formerly 
Medora residents. He is also the nephew of Lela Harding of Medora.

Born in Alton, Bowker entered the U.S. Air Force in June of 1965. His military 
awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf 
cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Distinguished 
Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstand Unit Award with Valor device 
and three oak leaf clusters, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award with 
two oak leaf clusters, air force Good Conduct Medal with one silver oak leaf 
cluster and one bronze oak leaf cluster, Air Force Recognition Ribbon, 
National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, Vietnam Service 
Medal with four bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with 
Palm, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. In addition, Sgt. Bowker 
received the 1980 Air Force Personnel Technician of the Year Award, the 1980 
Strategic Air Command Personnel Technician of the Year Award, and the 1987 
Electronic Security Command Personnel Supt. of the Year Award.

Sgt. Bowker is married to the former Linda Saunders of Richmond, Virginia. 
They have two sons, Michael and Tyler.
