Obituary of Emma BOWYER ARNOLD, Macoupin County Illinois12 Feb 1999 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives ©1999 Marilyn Galvan Taken from the DEMOCRAT, June 6, 1950 Mrs. Emma BOWYER ARNOLD 77, widow of J. William ARNOLD, died suddenly at 2:55 PM, Wednesday, May 31, at the Macoupin Hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital for three weeks but her death was sudden from an embolism. Decedent was born March 14, 1873 in Carlinville, a daughter of Samuel and Mary SEAMAN BOWYER. She had lived in this city all of her life. She was married to Willliam Arnold, May 24, 1890. Her husband preceded her in death in 1938. Mrs. ARNOLD was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, this city. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Nell ROBINSON and Mrs. Myrtle FONES, both of Carlinville; Mrs. Mildred HAILSTONE of Belleville; one son Harry of Sacremento, Calif; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A son Albert preceded her in death 14 months ago in Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 PM Saturday from the Ferketich Funeral Home. Rev. W. W. Swift, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church, officiated. George Reid sang "Ave Maria" and "The Lord's Prayer". Burial was in Carlinville City Cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandsons, Richard ROBINSON, Jim, Tom, and Jack COYNE, Gene and Jim HAILSTONE. The flowers were carried by the granddaughters.
