Mr. Truman D. Bowker

Mr. Truman D. Bowker, 83, of Medora, died on Sunday, February 23, 1975 at 1:25 
a.m. at Carlinville Area Hospital, where he had been a patient for five weeks.

He was born July 24, 1891 at Atwater, Ill., the son of the late James E. and 
Winnie (Dawson) Bowker. He retired in 1962 from the Medora Elevator after 
having worked there for 23 years. He married Ruby Owens on August 9, 1915.

She survives him. Also surviving are five daugters, Mrs. Viola Kirchner of 
Greenfield, Mrs. Doris Pruitt of Rockbridge, Mrs. Lela Harding, Mrs. Ida 
Coleman and Miss Anna Mae Bowker, all of Medora; seven sons, James of Alton, 
Gene of Godfrey, Lloyd of Medora, Claude of Carrollton, Mildord of Memphis, 
Tenn., Elmer of Virginia Beach, Va., William of Indiana. there are 35 
grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. One son, Walter, preceded him in 
death.

Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday until noonWednesday at Warner Funeral 
Home in Medora. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 26 at 
the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Medora. Rev. Gordon shephard officiated. 
Interment was in Medora Cemetery. Casketbearers were grandsons, James Bowker, 
Gary Bowker, David Bowker, Steve Bowker, Eldon Kirchner, Donald Pruitt, 
Charles Bowker and David Hefner.
