Obituary: Shirley Marie DALPOZZO of Staunton, passed away Thursday, June 6,
1996 at Community Memorial Hospital, Staunton. She was born August 23, 1929
in Staunton, a daughter of the late Cecil Loyd and Velma Caroline (SEXTON)
PRATER and had attained the age of 66 years. On December 17, 1949, she
married Elmer Michael DALPOZZO in Staunton and he survives. Also surviving
are two sons, Mark and wife Mary Margaret of Hillsboro and Mike and wife Dyan
of Redding, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, and other more distant relatives.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton
with the Rev. Sparks officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Staunton.
Mrs. DalPozzo was a retired bookkeeper having worked in several local banks and
a car dealership before her retirement. She was a member of First United Baptist
Church in Staunton; a charter member of the Macoupin County Genealogical Society,
a member of the DAR, and many other genealogical and historical organizations.
[Note: I am printing this obituary in hopes that the many people Aunt Shirley has 
corresponded with through the years will read it. She is still receiving genealogical
mail and hopefully, this will reach others who might be working on some of the same
lines. I don't know all of them but some of the requests included WITT, RENO,
PRATHER/PRATER, PENNY, etc. - Her son, Mark, has her material stored at
his house. Unless you are researching DALPOZZO, SAWYER, JARMAN,
SCOGGINS/SCROGGINS, or SEXTON, I can't answer your questions. -
