Obituary of Lena REINHOLD FICKERT, Macoupin County Illinois 22 March 1998 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives ©1998 Pam Ripplinger Name of Deceased: FICKERT (REINHOLD), Lena Name of Newspaper: Staunton Star Times Date of Obituary: Aug. 7, 1924 Obituary: Mrs. Lena Marie FICKERT, wife of Henry FICKERT, Sr., on of the old time residents of Staunton, passed away Monday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock at her home at 402 E. Sixth St. in our city. Mrs. FICKERT had been in poor health since several years and death came as a soothing relief from much suffering. The subject of this sketch, whose maiden name was REINHOLD, was native of Germany, where she was born January 29, 1858, hence attaining an age of 66 years 6 mo. and 5 days. In 1879, she was united in marriage in the native land with Henry FICKERT, and 3 years after the couple came to America, locating in Staunton, where they have resided continuously since. Their union was blessed with 10 children of whom 3, a son and 2 daughters preceded the mother in death. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home. Rev Paul E SHOPPE officiating. Interment will be at Staunton Cemetery. Those left to cherish the memory of a kind and loving wife and mother are: The venerable husband, 3 sons, Ernest, Louis and Henry, all of Staunton. Four Daughters, Emma ALTMAN, Mrs. Otto BEST, Anna FICKERT of Staunton and Mrs. S. R. HALES of Amarillo, Texas besides other distant relatives and friends.
