Obituary of Alfred, Maria, Morris, and Ruba FREY, Macoupin County Illinois 22 March 1998 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives ©1998 Pam Ripplinger Name of Deceased: FREY FAMILY, Alfred, Maria, Morris, Ruba Name of Newspaper: State Journal/Girard Gazette Date of Obituary: October 5, 1925 Obituary: Girard, Oct. 3 - Residents of Girard will witness tomorrow afternoon the burial of four members of the FREY Family, victims of the tragedy which occurred late yesterday afternoon when the north bound Chicago & Alton Lincoln Limited struck the automobile in which they were riding. Funeral services for Alfred FREY, his wife Marie FREY, and two children, Morris and Ruba Lee, will be held at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon at the Presbyterian church. The services will be conducted by Rev. William MORRISON, pastor of the church. Side by side, the parents and children will be laid to rest in Girard cemetery. A happy family circle, content in the possession of a new car, the FREY family was attempting to cross the Chicago & Alton tacks in the machine when it became stalled. The oncoming limited train plowed into the stalled machine, instantly killing Mr. and Mrs. FREY and son, Morris. Ruba Lee died two and a half hours later in Springfield Hospital at Springfield. Coroner W. W. JACOBY, Macoupin County, will hold the inquest into the death of the parents and Morris at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at Girard. Coroner Ernest DYE, Springfield, has not announced the time for the inquest of Ruba Lee, who died in Sangamon County. The inquest at Girard Wednesday will be attended by both coroners. Mr. FREY is survived by his father, Frederick W. FREY, Pittsburg, Ky; five sisters, Emily, Pittsburg, Ky; Mrs. Carl SCHOTT and Mrs Michael SCHOTT, Girard; three brothers, Herman, Staunton; Otto, Pittsburg, Ky. and Arnold, Staunton. Mrs. FREY is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Michael SCHOTT, Girard; nine brothers, Jacob, William, Carl, Christ, Otto, Fred, Mike, Girard; Adam, Pittsburg Ky and John, Pittsburg, Ky. One sister, Henrietta KEONITT, Bernstadt, Ky. Two Frey children survive, Helen, 10 and Billy Earl, 4.
