Jan 1, 1929 Obituary: GOTTFRED GLUR Gottfred GLUR, son of Jacob and Charlotte WEBER GLUR, was born in Roggwyl, Switzerland, April 5, 1852, and died at his home in Girard, Illinois, January 1, 1929. He was united in marriage with Anna MILER August 30, 1878 and with his wife and three children came to the United States April 19, 1884, settling in Pittsburg, Laurel County, Kentucky, where he lived until 1911 when he moved to Girard. Twelve children were born, five of whom, together with his wife, preceded him in death. He was united in marriage December 16, 1902 to Mary Benard, four children being born to this union all of whom survive him. Mr. GLUR had been in ill health for several years, the end coming following a three-day attack of influenza and asthma. He leaves his wife, a sister in Switzerland and he following children: Mrs. Bryant ATKISSON, Mrs. John HAHLEN, Mrs. John BINDER, Mrs. Freda MEYER, Ernest GLUR, and Miss Rosa GLUR of Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Albert HARDIN of Grassland, Ky, Mrs. John STAUFFER, Alfred, Virgil and Bertha GLUR of Girard and two stepchildren, Mrs. Arnold FREY and Coleman BENARD of Staunton; also many grandchildren and numerous other relative and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Milo MOORE.
