Moran and Sons Chapel, with interment in Jacobs Cemetery near Moweaqua, Il. Mrs. Hattie May Jacobs 70, died at 5:40 a.m. today in the home of her grandaughter, Mrs. Alvis Padgett, 1429 North Calhoun Street, following an illness of 2 weeks. Mrs. Jacobs had lived in Decatur since 1920, coming here from Moweaqua. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Moweaqua. She was born in Shelbyville, Il January 24, 1875 and was first married to George Thompson Hays, divorced and then married Elmer Jacobs on April 3, 1902 in Taylorville, Il. Elmer Jacobs was the son of Daniel and Helen (Sallenby) Jacobs, who died in 1937 and is buried in the Jacobs Cemetery in Moweaqua, Il. Hattie Jacobs leaves one daughter, Mrs. Zula May Williams of Decatur, three sons, Otis D. Hays of Decatur,Il, a child by her first marriage, Eldrich A. Jacobs, Decatur, Il and Sgt Paul Jacobs, stationed with the Army in Manila. A brother Willie Miller of Shelbyville, sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The body is in the Moran's Funeral Home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, funeral arrangements are incomplete, but burial will be in the Jacobs Cemetery, west of Moweaqua.
