Obituary of Stephen Heinrich SCHAEPER, Macoupin County Illinois 24 Nov 1998 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives ©1998 Glenn Sheets Name of Deceased: SCHAEPER, Stephen Heinrich Name of Newspaper: Staunton Star Times Date of Obituary: 12/3/1909 Obituary: PROMINENT FARMER NEAR HERE DIES Stephen Henry SCHAEPER, a prominent farmer of near this city died at his home at 9:00 o'clock Friday morning, Nov. 26 of cancer of the stomach. He had been suffering for over a year and on May 6 last went to a hospital in St. Louis but after a few weeks treatment with no improvement, he returned to his home. Mr. Schaeper was born in Cappin Tecklenberg, Westfalia in the year 1834, on Oct. 8 and lived to the age of 75 years 1 month and 18 days. At the age of 23 years, in 1857, he came to America and worked at St. Charles, Mo. Later he went to St. Louis where he met and married Elizabeth MUNSBERG. Six children were born to Mr; and Mrs. SCHAEPER all of whom are living except Minnie wife of Chris RUEHRUP, who died several years ago. The five children still living are Mrs. Fritz BENTRUP, Louis, Henry, August and Julia. The funeral services were conducted at the family residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. LA RAUSCH of the St. Paul's church and burial in the Spangle Cemetery. Within less than three months ago there were 3 SCHAEPER brothers but now there is only one living, August SCHAEPER resident of the North End.
