She was 84 years of age. Born June 17, 1900 in Chesterfield, the fifth child of George Sanford CURTIS and Helen ADAMS CURTIS, she was raised in Chesterfield and spent her early married life in the Chesterfield and Macoupin Station neighborhoods. She moved to Carlinville in 1930 and was an active member of the Memorial Christian Church. She returned to Chesterfield in 968 and was a member of the Chesterfield United Church. She resided in Chesterfield until declining health required her to enter a nursing home in 1974. She was married to William THOMPSON January 13, 1917 and they were the parents of one daughter, Marvene BARRICK, who survives. He died December 11, 1920 and she was then married to William YOWELL on February 13, 1922. Mr. YOWELL preceded her in death on June 12, 1967. They were the parents of one son, William A. YOWELL, who also survives. Additional survivors include three step-daughters, Hazel YOWELL DOWLAND of Chesterfield, Claribel DERUY of Springfield, and Anita PAYNTER of Carlinville: seven grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren: one great- great-grandchild; two sisters, Addie FENTON and Mabel DUROSS, both of Alton: and one brother, Roy CURTIS of Carlinville. Preceding her in death, in addition to the above mentioned, are four brothers, Charles, Frank, John and William CURTIS. Services were held at 10:30 Saturday morning, December 1, at Warner-Targhetta Funeral Home, Chesterfield, with the Rev. Rick Jashinske, officiating. Burial was in Loomis Cemetery with the following as pallbearers: William YOWELL, Michael YOWELL, John DOWLAND, Albert DOWLAND, Jeff FURLER, and Donald R. CURTIS.
