Will of Williams R COVERDILL, Macoupin County Illinois, 04 Nov 1998 Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives ©1998 Gloria Frazier Will of Williams R Coverdill, Macoupin County IL I, Williams R. Coverdill of the County of Macoupin and State of Illinois being mindful of my mortality and being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say. I bequeath my soul to God who gave it, and my body to be buried decently at the discretion of my friends, and after my body shall have been buried, I hereby desire and authorise my Executors to purchase and put up decent grave stones at the head and feet with my name age death be inscribed thereon, and that all my just debts be paid. I give and devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Coverdill in lieu of her dower, five hundred dollars in cash and also my house and kitchen funiture and also one third part of all the balance of my estate, after all my debts shall have been paid, during her natural life, and at the death of my said wife, all the property and money hereby devised and bequeathed to her as aforesaid in so much thereof as then remain unexpended may be disposed of by her as she may desire. I give and devise to my two grandchildren Eli Carter and Nancy Jane Carter only surviving heirs of my daughter Rachel Carter now deceased fifty dollars each to be paid to them by my Executors out of the proceeds of my Estate, as soon as the same can be disposed of and the proceeds collected. And I give and devise to the legal heirs of my daughter Sarah Ann Woods now deceased one dollar to be paid by my Executors out of my Estate as above stated in the case of my grnadchildren. And I further give and divise to my children Mary Jane Fillpostts, Israel Coverdill, Eli Coverdill, Hester Adcock, William Coverdill and Robert Coverdill and to their heirs and assigns forever all my Estate both Real and personal not previously disposed of in this my last will & testament. All of my estate, real & personal not disposed of in this instrument after my decease to be sold by my Executors and the proceeds to be equally divided between my six children last above named after paying all cost and expense of carrying out my last will and testament. And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint my wife Nancy Coverdill and G A W Cloud to be the Executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me made. And xxxing and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of May A.D. 1861. Williams R.
