Madison County IL Archives Cemeteries.....Montgomery Family Cemetery - Complete Survey ************************************************ Copyright. The farm was later purchased by Zephaniah Silver. The old Montgomery fort, where early settlers would take refuge in times of attack, stood nearby. For some time it was neglected and later vandalized. The Saint Louis Regional Airport now owns the cemetery and its director, Steve Bell, has made large strides in its restoration and preservation. The cemetery lies just off Suessen lane in Bethalto on the back side of the airport. There have been burials in this cemetery for which no stone stands, for these burials either obituaries, death records, or information from family records has been used.
