        Death at Alton. John M. Roberts Jr., son of Dr. William R.  Roberts,  of
        Rocheport, died in Alton, Ill whilst under arrest as a prisoner of  war.
        His disease was consumption. Mr. Roberts was a young  gentleman  with  a
        finely  developed  intellect,  and  possessed  many  noble   traits   of
        character, and in the social circle had won many friends.  His  untimely
        death will be regretted by a score of  friends  and  acquaintences.  His
        remains were brought to Rocheport by his father and interred  at  Walnut
        Grove Cemetery.

        Errors were made with the M being W in the younger John and then the Dr.
        was John William instead of William R.

        That’s what I see and what makes sense to me, according to the  cemetery
        stone of Dr. Roberts and in the census reports. Dr. Roberts was  married
        to Janetta S. Kirby. A daughter, Nannie was married to Wm. A.  Bradford.
        Wm. Bradford’s parents are buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
