Alton Woman Gets 15 Years

Mary Anderson Admits Killing Phil Thomas a Few Weeks Ago

Mary Anderson pleaded guilty in the Alton city court to the charge of 
murdering Phil Thomas a few weeks ago, and was given a 15-year sentence. Miss 
Bessie Martin, who was arrested shortly after the murder on suspicion of being 
an accomplice, has been released. The disappearance of a handsome gold watch 
from the body of the victim shortly after the killing remains a mystery.
