S. Connors and Wife Wed 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Sylvester Connors of 115 East Sixth street, observed the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, at the family home, Wednesday, and at noon a family dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Connors received a letter of congratulations from a daughter, Sister Mary Gabriel, a member of the Urauline Order, who is doing missionary work at Krugersdorp in South Africa. Sister Mary Gabriel, a former well-known Alton girl, will be remembered as Miss Jane Connors. Mr. Connors is a retired employee of the Chicago and Alton Railroad. In attendance at yesterday's celebration were Thomas Connors and were Thomas Connors and family of Shipman, Mr. and Mrs.Charles Connors of St. Louis, and Mrs. C. E. Salter and family of Alton. Thomas and Charles Connors are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Connors, and Mrs. Salter is a daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Connors, who have resided in Alton for more than 35 years, were married June 14, 1888, in St. Patrick's Church, Scranton, KS.
