Obituary of Henry MULVANY and Catherine Roberts MULVANY, Marion County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Cindy McCachern Obituary of Henry Mulvany and Catherine Roberts Mulvany Rev. Henry Mulvany was born Jan. 23, 1821 and died March 19, 1894, age 73 years, 1 month and 24 days.  He was converted and joined the M. E. church when young and lived a consistent member of the same till his death.  He had been a minister of the Gospel for more than 50 years.  Many souls have been awakened and brought to Christ through his ministry.  He was a plain though forcible speaker whose sermons were emphasized by an humble and consistent walke with Christ.  All who knew him loved him, and his death was a serious loss to the community in which he lived.  Eternity alone will unfold the great good he accomplished in his humble way. Catherine Mulvany, the wife of Henry Mulvany, was born Dec. 16, 1827, died Oct. 15, 1896, aged 68 years, 10 months and two days.  She was converted and joined the church in her youth and lived a consistent christian till her death.  Death came to her very suddenly.  She was reading from the Bible about her new house and how to reach it, when lo!  the angel came and bid her "Come up higher," without giving her time to even say good by to her family. Rev. W. H. Mulvany and James M. Mulvany were sons of this noble and heroic pair, and when I speak of these two grand ministers my pen and tongue is unable to express my gratitude to them for the great blessing which under God they brought to our family, and especially to my sainted father, who, under the strong and almost irresistable appeals of Rev. J. M. Mulvany, was won to Christ when more than 60 years ld. If I am correctly informed the entire family, composed of several children, are converted and on their way to a better land. A father and mother who live so close to God that they can bring their entire family to Him are living for a high and holy purpose. The obituaries of the two are here given because the memorial services for both were held at the same time by the writer. M. B. Baker. ***************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
