WOODS FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY Ernest E. Woods, 85, of Denver, CO, formerly of Massac Co., died Thursday, 23Jul, in Denver. Funeral rites were held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis W. Brinker officiating. Maud Hankins served as organist & Helen Buchanan & Ethel Sundmacker served as singers. Burial was in Mt. Sterling Cemetery with Brent Huffman, Dan Rushing, Roy McCulloch, Mitchell Williamson, Geo. Smith & Dennis Williamson serving as pallbearers. The following obituary was read at the services: Ernest E. Woods, son of the late Francis & Byrd Poe Woods, was born 03May1884 in Massac Co., IL. He died Thursday, 23Jul1969, in Denver, CO, having reached the age of 85 years, 2 months & 20 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Eva Matthews, who preceded him in death in 04Feb1918. This union was blessed with a daughter, Selma. Mr. Woods was a member of the Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Unionville. For the past 22 eyras he had made his home with his daughter & her family in Denver. Besides his parents & his wife, he was also precede in death by 2 brothers, Orris & Ray Woods. He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter, Selma; his son-in-law, Thomas L. Rushing; 1 grandson, Dan Rushing; 3 sisters, Nellie Babb, Iva Lane & Una Flowers; several nieces & nephews, other relatives & friends.
