Services were held at the Kennedy Funeral Home chapel, Brookport, with the Rev. Roosevelt Denson & Jack Caraker officiating with burial in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Dunn, Roy Little, Ronnie Farmer, Melvin Souders, Perry Laird & James Vick. Organ selections were by Mrs. Juanita Smith. The following obituary was read at the services: Orris Francis Woods, the son of Francis & Anna Byrd Poe Woods was born 13Jun1888 in Massac Co., IL. Passed from this life 04Jul1968 at Massac Memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years & 21 days. He was united in marriage to Kate Hunt on 13Dec1911. To this union 2 children were born. One having died in infancy & Aline passed from this life in Feb1965. Orris was a member of Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Those left to mourn the loss of this dear one: his wife, Mrs. Kate Woods, Brookport; 1 brother, Earnest Woods, Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Mrs. Nellie Babb, Reading, MI; & Mrs. Iva Lane, Norman, OK; 1 half-sister, Mrs. Euna Flowers, Phoenix, AZ; a nephew, George Woods Smith, Brookport. Many other relatives & friends. A precious one from us is gone. The Voice we loved is stilled - A place is vacant in our home Which never can be filled.
