McClure died at the home of her son, Hugh McClure, in Chalmers township yesterday afternoon about 2 o’clock, aged 89 years, 7 months and 27 days. Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer church Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock, interment in Camp Creek cemetery. Elizabeth Taylor was born in Christian county, Kentucky, Feb. 22, 1814, and came to this state when but 2 years of age, locating in Sangamon county. Here she lived until her marriage with Samuel Lewis McClure in 1835, when they moved to this county, locating on the farm in Chalmers township where she died. She was the mother of nine children, these surviving her – James, Ness City, Kan.; Mrs. Nancy Norton, Cherokee, Kan.; Edward, Lyndon, Kan.; Hugh, Chalmers township; Lorenzo, Cherokee, Kan.; Mrs. Eleanor P. Walker, this city. In the death of Mrs. McClure McDonough county loses another of her pioneer citizens, who saw this county grow from a prairie to a well settled, busy county. She united with the Methodist church when a young girl and lived according to the doctrines of her church and the teachings of her Bible. She was a kind and loving mother and admired by all who knew her.
