Gardner, of Union, and brother of S.B. Gardner, of Freeport. Deceased, with a younger brother Henry, went out to Kansas about a year ago to secure homesteads. In the vicinity were other families from this section, and among them, Mr. Carmon's people, of Union. Alonzo's sickness was only of about 24 hours duration, but during that time Mr. and Mrs. Carmon watched over him with the most tender solicitude and did everything in their power for him. Other neighbors and friends were very attentive, so that Alonzo, though dying far from his parental roof, and among comparative strangers, - had every attention and kindness shown him, such only as can be excelled by a mother's tender care. In this sudden and unexpected bereavement, the family have the generous sympathy of a multitude of friends.
