The Nunda Herald - 11 May 1883 - "BUSINESS OF NUNDA. Pickle Factories. John 
Goodwin, born in Pittston, Luzerne Co., Pa., July 2, 1825, came here in 1877. 
Married Miss Sabra C. Chase of Auburn, N.Y., Feb. 10, 1852. Has four children. 
Owns the large pickle factory in the south-east part of the village, buys and 
salts cucumbers."
