The house has been tenantless for some years and has suffered from the abrasions and wrestlings of the elements. The windows, doors, and chimneys have been removed and soon the work of destruction will have been completed and the historic residence will be no more. It was built by William Major about 1849 or 1850, and in its day was one of the finest farm houses in this section, the home of a prominent family, and the scene of many pleasant social reunions. In its dismantled and decrepit condition it savors the pathetic and mournful.
