All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb © Submitted by: Matthew Ferricks ==================================================================== Declaration for Pension State of Illinois County of Menard On this date 13th day of March, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and eleven personally appeared before me, County Clerk within and for the county and State aforesaid, Arphad Snell, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 70 years of age, and a resident of Tice county of Menard, State of Illinois; and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Chenoa, Illinois under the name of Arphad Snell, on the 5th day of August, 1862, as a Private, in Co. G, 129 Ill. Volunteers Infantry in the service of the United States, in the Civil war, and was honorably discharged at Near Washington D.C., on the 8th day of June, 1865. That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 7 ½ inches; complexion, fair; color of eyes, Hazel; color of hair, Brown; that his occupation was farmer; that he was born February 16, 1841, at Clermont, Ohio. That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Tice, Illinois That he is a pensioner. That he has hereunto applied for pension 1120332. That he makes the declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of February 6, 1907. That his post-office address is Tice, county of Menard State of Illinois Arphad Snell Attest: C.F. Custer T.H. Hornback Also personally appeared C.F. Custer, residing in Petersburg, Ill. And T.H. Hornback, residing in Petersburg, Ill., persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me duly sworn, say that they were present and saw Arphad Snell, the claimant, sign his name (or make his mark) and their acquaintance with him of 20 years and 15 years, respectively, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be, and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
