Menard Co. Illinois, Obituary Samuel Woodruff, Petersburg Observer Feb 1907 Died- At his home in this city, Feb 15, 1907, Samuel Woodruff, aged 82 years, 5 months and 19 days. Mr. Woodruff was born August 26 1824 and was married to Miss Mellissa Miller on July 23, 1847, their married life extending over a period of 59 years, 6 months, and 22 days. To this union were born eight children, three sons and five daughters, of whom all are living but one. About 40 years ago he professed faith in Christ, and with his good wife joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Lebanon and continued in the followship of that church to the_____ Mr. Woodruff served in the 18th Ill. Volunteers during the civil war and was given a military burial by the Sons of Veterans at Indian Point Cemetery. The funeral services were held on Sunday morning at the house, conducted by Rev. O.W.
