MILLER DIES IN OREGON, TO RETURN BODY HERE The Sherrard funeral home this week received word that the body of Mrs. Myrtle Miller, a former resident of Millersburg, was to be returned here for burial. Mrs. Miller died Saturday in Portland, Ore. Burial will be in Millersburg cemetery." [Transcribed 07 May 2008, SLJuhl, Compiler-- sljuhl1234@yahoo.com] Additional Comments: Myrtle Johanna Jack Reed Miller passed away in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon after spending half of her life living in Mercer and Rock Island Counties where her children were born, Frances L., Frank L., Albert, Josephine A., Roy William, and Harry Reed. Her daughter Josephine A. Reed Anderson lived in Portland, Ore. In 1935, her son Harry was killed in a train accident while in the Marine Corps. in San Diego, California at the age of 20 years. Myrtle's parents were John Nelson & Laura Bean Fuller Jack of Mercer and Rock Island Counties in Illinois. Myrtle was born in July of 1885, in Mercer County, Illinois. Her first marriage was to Arthur J. Reed, the father of her children. Her second marriage was to Riley E. Miller of Millersburg, Mercer County, Illinois, a life time resident of the area. Riley's grandfather was of Indiana and settled in Mercer County before the Civil War of which he served on the side of the Union.
