Mrs. Mary Ellen Melleny, 83, formerly of the Alexis community, died Tuesday at
9:30 a.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Woodhull, where
she had resided the past five years. The former Mary Ellen Farrell was born Oct.
6, 1781, at Good Hope and was married March 2, 1896, to Frank Melleny at
Monmouth. He died nine years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Theresa
Peterson of Alexis, Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Woodhull and Mrs. Merle Peterson
of Monmouth; a son, James of Alexis; a brother, Andrew Farrell of Monmouth, four
grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be conducted Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Theresa's Catholic
Church, Alexis, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary will be
recited this evening at 8 o'clock in the McKnight Memorial Home.

Alexis—Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Melleny, 83, were conducted in St.
Theresa's Catholic Church Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock, with the Rev.
William Carey and the Rev. E. E. Gould officiating. Pallbearers were Franklin
Melleny, Gary, LeRoy and Clarence Peterson, Wayne Pheiffer and John Edgar
Johnson. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Alexis.
