Safford Bio for Edwin D. Safford of Montgomery Co., Ill. Edwin D. Safford of Medina, New York, born Jan. 1837 served in the Civil War from September 13, 1862 until June 11, 1865. He was with the 115 Illinois Infantry, Company K, rank, Private. Edwin was mustered out of Sangamon County. He married Rebecca C. Culbertson in Macoupin County, Illinois in 1860. He settled in Nokomis (Montgomery County), Illinois with his wife and family after the War. According to the 1880 census he was living in Nokomis with his wife Rebecca and six children, Edwin N., Jennie, Myrtle, Florence, Horace, Elisha, and Ray. He died between 1900 and 1910. The exact date is still being researched. His widow, Rebecca, was still living in Nokomis, age 82, in 1920.
