John BRUNS, 84 Dies at Hospital

Funeral services for John B. BRUNS, 84, retired farmer of Ohlman, will be held 
at 11:00 am Friday at the Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. The Rev. 
Alviin KNIKER, minister of St Paul’s United Church of Christ at Ohlman will 
conduct the service.
Mr. Bruns died at 5:45 pm Monday in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He had 
been in failing health the past year and a half.
The deceased was born in Christian Co. Jan. 27, 1891. At the age of eight years 
his parents, Chris and Anna (HILLRICHS) Bruns, came to Ohlman from Pana. He 
attended the area schools and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of 
Christ in Ohlman.
He married Felicia STANLEY at Hillsboro on Dec 22, 1915, and she survives along 
with a daughter, Mrs. Vivian KARMAZINAS, of Springfield; brother Andrew BRUNS, 
Nokomis; sisters, Mrs. Gesina Dahler of rural Nokomis, and Mrs. Oscar (Matilda) 
HAGEMEIER of Nokomis; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A son, Kenneth, died in 1943. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Fred, 
Henry, and Harry; sisters Jane, Carrie, Annie, Tina and Emma.
