Graveside services will be conducted Monday, September 4th at Cress Hill 
Cemetery, for Miss Marie Cress, age 75, who died Friday, August 25, 1979 at 
Wichita, KS.  Marie L. Cress was the second child born to William Springer and 
Mattie (Schoff) Cress.  She was born September 2, 1902 on the family farm 
located northwest of Hillsboro, a short drive west off the North Road.  A 
brother, John B. Cress was born April 26, 1901 and his death occurred July 9, 
1941 in Washington, D. C.  The Cress home on the family farm, was located in a 
wooded tact surrounded by fine forest trees, named Cresswood, and she remained 
there until after her mother's death February 11, 1943.  She then sold the 
farm, and one of the owners was, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Carter, reside there until 
his death in the 1980's.

Miss Cress went to Wichita where for years she was employed as a companion and 
homemaker for elderly patrons. During her years in this community she was a 
faithful and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two nieces, Ellen Cress Ralston of Merced, CA and Martha 
Cress Ward of Englewood, CO.
