Madison, Wisconsin Melissa Frances Cress, died at the residence of Mrs. L. T. Crow in Madison, Wisconsin, July 07, 1908, aged 51 years, wife of Joseph E. Cress of Concord township. The remains will be taken to the farm home where the funeral will be held Thursday. Burial will be in the Ramona Cemetery. Mrs. Cress had been ill for the past six months, suffering from intestinal tuberculosis which was the cause of death. A week ago yesterday she was brought to Madison from the farm home in order to receive more frequent medical attention, but her case was hopeless and she passed away. Joseph Elijah Cress and Melissa Frances Gordon were united in Madison, Wisconsin, May 25, 1883. They settled on their farm in Concord township where Mr. Cress has been very successful in his farming operations. Mrs. Cress commended failing in health four years ago, tuberculosis being apparent, but by skilled medical treatment she apparently fully recovered her health, only to be stricken again six months ago since at which time the decline has been rapid. Mr. Cress has been faithfully at the bedside of his wife since she was brought to this city. Surviving children are William W. Cress of Pearce, ND, who arrived today; Frank Gordon, Irene Helena, Nellie Jane, Harry Joseph, Orville Blackman, all of whom are at home.
