Obituary of Mrs. Lottie Peak Carpenter, Montgomery Co., Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Name of Deceased: Mrs. Lottie Peak Carpenter Name of Newspaper: Cle Elum Echo, Cle Elum, WA 98922 Date of Newspaper: 20 Nov 1914 The funeral of Mrs. Charles Carpenter who departed this life Thursday, November 19, 1914, was held at the family residence on West Third Street, Sunday, November 22, at one o'clock, attended by a large assembly of friends whose esteem for the deceased was given utterance by the many beautiful floral pieces. A brief service was conducted by Rev. F. A. Houston, assisted by members of the Presbyterian Choir. Internment followed in the Laurel Hill cemetery. Mrs. Lottie Peak Carpenter, daughter of West and Nancy Ann Peak, was born on January 3rd, 1852, near Litchfield, Montgomery County, Illinois. Passed from this life at 7 a.m. on November 19th, 1914, in Cle Elum, Washington after only a short illness. She was therefore 62 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age. She was married on September 19th, 1869, to Charles Carpenter, who survives her and with whom she lived happily for more than 45 years. She was the mother of two sons, Frank, president of the Cle Elum-Roslyn Bank, and Jesse L., proprietor of the department store in Ferndale, Washington, and is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles A. Evans, Grandview, Arkansas. She lived on a farm in Illinois for a few months, then moved with her husband to Girard, Illinois, where she lived until 1906, when they came to Cle Elum.
