From Montgomery County News Friday, March 31, 1916 p. 1 Jeremiah Coakley, who came to Nokomis from Indiana several years ago and worked in the mine untill compelled to retire because of old age, died of pneumonia Monday. He was 67 years, 7 months and 10 days. He is survived by two sons, John and Frank of Nokomis, and a daughter and two sons in Indiana. The funeral was held Thursday morning from the Catholic church. ********************************************** From Nokomis Progress, Nokomis, IL March 30, 1916 p. 1 (Roll A 8365) Jeremiah Coakley died at the home of his son John, from the effect of pneumonia and lung fever after an illness of nine days, Monday, March 27, at the age of 67 years. He had lived in this vicinity about a year. Mr. Coakley was born in Indiana and spent practically all of his life in that stae, coming here from Linton, IN. He is survived by four sons and one daughter. Frank and John of Nokomis, Arthur and James of Linton, Indiana, and Nellie, wife of James Dickerson, of Clinton, Ind. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters Mary Coakley of Clinton, Ind, Lizzie Coakley, Timothy, Con and John, all of Linton, Ind, and James Coakley of Terre Haute. Mr. Coakley's life work was that of mining coal, but eight years ago he was injured after which he never became able to resume work and found the use of a cane necessary.
