Lena Husman Mindrup obituary - Montgomery County, Illinois Mrs. Geo Mindrup Dead Mrs. Geo. Mindrup died at 3:30 o’clock A.M., Wednesday, March 21, 1917 at her home on North Cedar Street at the age of 70 years and 2 days. Death came as a result of a stroke of paralysis which Mrs. Mindrup suffered about five weeks ago. Lena Husman was born in Germany and when about ten years of age came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Husman to America. They made their first home in this country on a farm near Bethalto, soon moving from that place to a farm near Gillespie. March 2, 1865 the deceased was united in marriage to George Mindrup in Carlinville. They spent about three years on a farm near Mt. Olive after which forty-nine years ago they moved to their farm home, five and one-half miles north of Nokomis. Honest, thrifty and industrious, Mrs. Mindrup was a great help to her worthy husband and they made a success on the farm. After many years of labor they decided that they had earned their retirement and moved to their home on North Cedar Street four years ago. Mrs. Mindrup was a good and noble woman. In childhood she became a member of the German Lutheran Church and kept the faith to the last. Mr. and Mrs. Mindrup became the parents of eleven children. One boy and one girl died in infancy, and one son, Otto, died at the age of 12 years. The husband together with the following named children survive: Mrs. Chas. Flood of St. Elmo, Mrs. John Drewes of Prescho, S.D., Mrs. Herman Husman of Canastota, S.D., Hiram, Richard, Henry and Etta of Nokomis, and Mrs. John Kluthe of Dieterich. Of her eight brothers and sisters which Mrs. Mindrup had, two brothers, Martin and John preceded her in death several years ago. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o’clock Friday afternoon at the German Lutheran Church by the pastor Rev. O. Henkel.
