" Arthur McAnarney, one of the aged residents of the Brown Settlement, Died 
November 6, at the home of his son-in-law James Brown.  The deceased was born 
May 21, 1802 in County Sligo, Ireland and moved to America in 1854.  His wife 
only lived two years after her arrival.  He was the father of 9 children, 6 
boys and 3 girls.  John, Patrick, Edward and Arthur are dead.  James of Rice 
County, Kansas, Charles of Farmersville, Mrs. Wm. McCranor of Girard, Mrs. 
James Brown and Mrs. Pat Clarke survive him.  Deceased has 62 grandchildren 
and 40 great-grandchildren.  The remains were interred in the Catholic 
cemetery at Farmersville.

The attendance at the McAnarney funeral was one of the largest ever seen in 
this vicinity.  The body was taken from James Brown's residence to St. 
Isadore's church, where the services were conducted by Rev. Father Hoey. He 
took for this text, "Through Adam death came to all men," and exhorted all his 
hearers to live a holier life; one worthy of the profession they made.  His 
discourse was quite good and very appropriate to the occasion.  From the 
church, the body was taken to St. Martin's cemetery and there laid to rest.  
May his soul rest in peace."
