Rebecca died February 26, 1930, in Santa Ana, California. Mrs. Rebecca Mitchell Dies in California Lived in this Community for 75 Years Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Mitchell, formerly of this community, died February 25 in California. Services were held Wednesday afternoon March 5 at the Witt Methodist Church, the pastor, the Reverand J.W. William officiating. The remains were committed at the Armentrout Cemetery, southeast of Witt. Mrs. Mitchell, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Curnutt) Vermillion, pioneers of the Witt vicinity, was born near Kansas, Illinois on September 11, 1852 and was therefore aged 77 years, 5 months and 13 days at the time of her death. As a little child she came with her parents to this community and lived here all of her life, until a year ago, when she went to California. In September 1871, the deceased united in marriage to John T. Armentrout who lived 16 years after their marriage. Eleven years later she married Fred Mitchell who preceded her in death, passing away 10 years ago. "Leaves Several Children" Mrs. Mitchell leaves to mourn her passing two children, Miss Gertrude Armentrout of Los Angeles, California and Lee Armentrout of Mattoon, Il, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Fred Adler of Witt, Il. In addition, three sisters, nine great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. She is survived by 5 children, by her first husband, two brothers and several sisters. Mrs. Mitchell's death came quite sudden. She enjoyed splendid health for one of her advanced age and retired the night of her death as well as usual. She passed away some time during the night. The remains arrived from California Tuesday evening and were taken to the home of Mrs. Ida Armentrout, her sister-in-law.
